Established in 1827, the ByWard Market District is one of Canada’s oldest and most iconic areas. The district is home to over 350 businesses and welcomes millions of visits annually. The ByWard Market District Authority (BMDA), a Municipal Services Corporation (MSC), manages and operates the district and the area’s seasonal outdoor public market. Open year-round, this area offers a constantly evolving lineup of events, entertainment, and seasonal experiences that bring energy and excitement to the heart of Ottawa.
